And… we’ve reached the halfway point!
I had everything planned today. It was going to be tight, but I could do it. I could hit 250k. I would take lunch to write, then I had to help a friend for 1.5 hours including travel time, and then I could write all night long.
Except I went out to lunch with my coworker/mentor instead (which I was glad to do–I’m being trained, and I got a chance to ask questions I hadn’t yet been able to), and then the simple favor for my friend, whom I consider family, combusted into a full-blown tech issue that stretched the visit to 2.5 hours plus travel and still hasn’t been resolved, much to my frustration. After taking care of some things at home, I started writing again (I had about 6,000 words from the morning) at about the time I prefer to be in bed during non-NaNo months!
But, as I posted on the NaNo forum, the words were worded. I am sitting at 250,015 words after writing 15,999 today (no, I didn’t want to write that extra word), right on par for 500k. I have tons of obligations over the next few days, but I’m not going to complain about them. They are what they are, and the main challenge of NaNo is to write a novel even when you’re busy.
Anyway, the sleep must now be slept.
Happy writing, everyone!
